Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive (2002/96/EC)

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive is a European law that went into effect on 13th of August 2004. The WEEE Directive is designed to encourage and regulate the collection, reuse, recycling and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment, for which it sets targets. This directive aims to improve our environment, reduce risks to human health through the proper treatment of discarded goods. The necessity of recycling these items and preventing them going to landfill is well set out in an EEB (European Environmental Bureau) report. Centon praises this EU move, which enhances the world we all live in, and is taking the necessary steps to be in full compliance to this directive.

REACH (EC 1907/2006)

Centon Electronic supports the objectives of REACH, which is to improve the European Union’s chemical regulatory system, and to protect the health and safety of the public, and the environment.
REACH is the European Union’s chemical regulation that went into effect in June of 2007 and should be completely phased in by 2018. Manufacturers and importers of chemical substances in excess of 1 ton per year in the EU (European Union) are required to register these substances.
